Submitting your work to Luna Negra is pretty easy.

Luna Negra Magazine is Kent State’s literary publication dedicated to publishing great works of poetry, short stories, photography, illustrations, and artwork.

We encourage you to submit original art, creative writing, personal stories, audio, video, photography, animation, and the like for consideration for publication in our new online version of Luna Negra as well as Luna Negra’s Spring 2015 print issue.

Here’s How to Do It:

To submit your work, send us an e-mail with your attachments at We can arrange to photograph or scan artwork if needed.


Creative Writing: Submit your poetry, prose, short stories, nonfiction, and creative essays. There is no word limit. 

Art: Submit images of your paintings, drawings, illustrations, sculptures, prints, or comics. Please include the work’s title, actual-size dimensions, and media.
Photography: Submit your photojournalism and artistic photography. Please include a title and a brief photo caption. 

Audio: Submit your spoken word or podcast recordings.

Video/Animation: Submit your video, film, trailers, or animation. Note: These files may be too large for e-mail; please upload.


- Submissions must be previously unpublished and your own work. 
- Please include a brief bio with your submission. 
- Visual submissions must be accompanied by a brief description. 
- Images must be submitted as .jpg or .tiff with a minimum resolution of 200 ppi.
-If possible please submit writing in the form of a Word Document.
