I light a cigarette as I begin to walk on the street
The city is blanketed in snow
There's a cold breeze blowing in my face
And it's quiet
The silence makes me feel so alone
As I flick away the butt of my smoke
I see a mother holding the hand of her child
Oh his young, innocent smile
I remember those days
Just wait until he learns what this world is truly made of
And what we as humans are capable of
But I believe there is hope
For a world full of uncertainty
I could see it in his face
If only we could be more like him again
Thinking with our hearts and not with our heads
I can hear the echoes from their laughs as I walk farther away
It cracks a smile on my face
And even though I'm by myself
I don't feel so alone
